Mike Nolet, founder and CTO of AppNexus talks DevOps at Hack+Startup

A couple weeks ago we held our first Hack+Startup with Facebook here in New York. We had speakers from Facebook, Etsy and AppNexus. We will be publishing all of them in the next few days, and the first, from Mike Nolet from AppNexus, is a great talk on DevOps and managing infrastructure and deployment at scale.

The full summary is available in the First Round Library but my key take aways are:

1. Mike knows scale so when he talks about how to solve this stuff, it is likely that he is right

2. DevOps requires dedicated focus and attention — it is not a way to sex-up sysadmin

3. DevOps needs to build solid tools and software applications with good, repeatable code — this requires uninterrupted blocks of time so don’t give them the pager
