Design your company (not just your product) at Northside June 14th
Just designing your product instead of the whole company is like hanging out in Williamsburg wearing skinny jeans with a rolled cuff, vintage wingtips and crazy bright socks without having any ironic tattoos or facial hair.
As I work with start-ups and in my own experience as an entrepreneur, the most successful companies were also the most thoughtful about designing the organization. Good companies are able to articulate a simple problem statement and focus on iterating their way to the best solution for their customer. Great companies elevate their game to another level by focusing on designing the best system to deliver on their customers’ needs and the needs of their partners and employees.
If you startup, you should not just build your company, you should design it. I am psyched that this topic is a part of the entrepreneurship track at the Northside Festival this year and excited to be a part of the conversation along with Whitney, Anthony and Chris.
On Thursday at 11:30, we will try to dive into specific, actionable tactics that can help you do a better job of designing your company. Touching on problem definition and key levers you can pull in your search for the best solution as well as identifying the hallmarks of great organizational design and its impact on the bottom line when it is done well.
I hope to see you there and if you have ideas for topics we should cover, please e-mail me or leave them in the comments.
