Design+Startup: A Chat with Sahil Lavingia, Founder of Gumroad

As we gear up for the next Design+Startup with IDEO this week in New York (the event is sold out, but we will be letting about 20-30 people in off the waitlist tomorrow morning — so if design is your craft, sign up here and we will do our best to get you in) I have been thinking a lot about the amazing impact a great design or designer can have on the world and the immediacy and scale of the validation available on the web. I have also been blown away with the value this can create for start-ups and the powerful ways a designer can truly shape a company.

In this Fireside Chat with Sahil Lavingia, Founder of Gumroad and early designer at both Pinterest and Turntable.fm, we touch on the vision behind Gumroad  and the potential impact of making it as easy to sell digital content as it is to share it, the importance of focus in product development and of CEOs who say no, the value of defaults and the definition of design.

Hope this was valuable and hope to see you at Design+Startup in New York this Thursday.
